ACTC students & recent alumni are invited to submit an original screenplay for consideration in this inaugural contest.

The Student Screenplay Contest is designed to celebrate the creativity and talent of our student writers and filmmakers. Submissions will be accepted August 15 – October 25, 2014. Winning scripts will be announced at the 2014 ACTC Student Film Festival this November.

Submission Guidelines

Genres: Submissions are accepted in the following genres.

  1. Feature-Length Narrative (approx.. 90-120 pages)
  2. Short (up to 30 pages)
  3. Experimental, Non-Narrative (up to 30 pages)

Note: Use of screenplay format will be considered during the judging process.

Eligibility: To be eligible, a screenwriter must be a current ACTC student or an ACTC alumnus with a graduation date of 2012 or later. Submissions from ineligible screenwriters will not be considered.

Screenplays with two or more authors are eligible for the contest. However, all writers must meet ACTC eligibility requirements in order for the script to be eligible to the contest.

Submission cap: Each screenwriter may submit no more than one entry per genre.

Entry fee: Submitting a screenplay is free for all eligible screenwriters.


Submission Process

Submissions will be accepted from August 15, 2014 through October 25, 2014. Please submit all screenplays via the ACTC Submittable page here.

Submission specifications: Entries must be submitted as PDF files (to preserve screenplay formatting). Title page should include the author’s name and ACTC institution.
